As it turns out, because the michigan democratic party (and or legislature?) violated national party guidlines, michigan will have no delegation at the democratic national convention. (Which means the michigan primary is pretty much pointless). the republican national party cut michigan's delegation in half for moving the state's primary up to january without consent. so voting for a democrat will be pretty much pointless, where as your vote will still count if you vote republican, but only by 1/2 as much as it normally would. This is very interesting as Mitt Romney is from michigan, and his father was govorner of the state in the 1960's.
Also of note George Romney, was a major contender for the 1968 republican presidential race,
Update: and was pretty much forced to drop out after his popularity sank after the detroit race riots. what is most interesting however,

is the fact that George Romney would not have been constitutionally eligible to become president, as although he was an american citizen, he was born in Mexico.
