If Israel can build a border wall that works, why cant the US build one along the Southern Border that works?

It is the illegal immigrants that is the problem. They suck billions of dollars out of our economy with welfare, educational resources, medical expenditures to name 3. I would rather pay more for food picked by LEGAL citizens of the US than picked by illegal immigrants. The food would be far cheaper in the long road.

We should build a southern wall and arm it with soldiers to protect us. The northern side... NO, because they bring Ice Hockey, Molsens and go back. It is nice there. I feel safe in Canada. Mexico not so much.

The CFR plan for years has been to model the North American continent after Europe with open borders. Will the people of the US and Canada accept it? I think a common sense low cost approach would be to pass a law which makes it a mandatory sentence for illegals caught in the US to work on a wall building project for X amount of time before being deported.

First of all, yes the illigal immigrants do suck money out of the economy; but they also put in billions of dollars. Sure we could have "LEGAL" citizens pick our fruit, but what american would honestly do that. We haven't picked our own fruit for a hundred years, we have always have someone else do it. Second, the border wall would cost $3million for every mile, the wall is supposed to be 700 miles; you do the math. Third, where is that money going to come from.....ummm the taxpayers. Screw that, with all the taxes we have to pay right now, I think it is stupid to try to put more taxes on to "box" us in, when the new presidental candidates are trying to cut taxes. And lastly, it would just cause more problems. They would try harder to come over, not to mention the 40 different tunnels that have been found since 9/11. So, just to name four things, we shouldn't build a wall. O ya, they were here first, our ancestors were immigrants at one point.....

Building a wall on the Southern border would cost many billions of dollars. Currently, the government is planning to build a fence, although its construction keeps getting delayed.

The fence will cost billions of dollars. A wall would be even more expensive, especially when it comes to having soldiers stationed on it. A wall would reduce the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. somewhat, but many would still come by overstaying a valid visa. The wall in Israel is designed to keep out enemy soldiers and Palestinian rebels, not illegal immigrants. The U.S. is not at war with Mexico, nor is it likely that the U.S. and Mexico could go to war any time soon. A wall just for keeping out illegal immigrants is overkill, especially when there are cheaper solutions that would be more effective. For instance, the government could start cracking down on companies that hire illegal aliens, and impose harsher penalties on these companies and on the individuals responsible for hiring illegal aliens. Very few people would immigrate illegally if it were hard for them to find jobs as illegal immigrants. This would be cheaper than building a fence or wall, and probably much more effective.

Also, if it were easier to immigrate legally, less people would immigrate illegally. Making the immigration process easier would be another effective solution. Most illegal immigrants would have immigrated legally if it were easier to do so.

We need to build one tall and deep with high voltage and razor wire on top and bottom.

We could start a chain gang by rounding up all illegals and make them build it and when finished put them on their side of the fence.

We could save on labor cost since we are already spending billions on them. With millions illegally in our country it should'nt take to long to build it.

Actually I thought the same way. Namely, illegal aliens stealing our jobs and such.... However, it is Americans who give them jobs over here. Americans steal jobs from their fellow citizens and give the jobs and money to illegals. This problem derives from greed of some Americans. That is the root of the problem. Border will not help until Americans stop giving jobs to illegals.

Because a wall would cost money

What you really need is the foreign legion. Replace the American troops dying in Iraq with illegal immigrants that the police nab.

We can and the majority of the population wants one but the politicians that are in DC refuse to do anything about it. They are too worried about the Hispanic vote and are afraid that building a wall will alienate them.

They could - but Congress stripped the funding for it! Deport and put the military on the border - now!

The republican don't want the fence, they want illegals to come in & work in their factories & make more money for the rich people. We wouldn't build one to the North, as they don't come South to steal our jobs! They are upstanding citizens of their own country!
