How come the COUNTIES with the highest rate of college graduates mostly vote blue?

Behold.

This is a ranking of the top 50 counties based on the percent of college graduates in the county. Included are whether it is a blue or red state and the percent of people who voted for Kerry versus Bush in 2004.

    Wow this is getting old.

    Blue counties are full of liberal college students. What's so hard to understand.

    well, i guess according to the republicans beliefs those blue counties have a lot of highly educated welfare recipients!!!

    What Gary said, there's a proven direct correlation between who votes what. Democrats are statistically smarter and more educated. I'm not hating on Republicans, thats a fact not my opinion.

    Because college students are, generally, more open minded as opposed to based in tradition; therefore, more leaned to the democratic side.
