Is bleach and soap really bad for you?

i just heard that if you mix soap and bleach together that it is really bad for you... i'm really bad ocd about my bathroom so i clean it every night with it!!!! and my kitchen!!
what effect does it have on the body?

The danger in mixing bleach with other household products is chlorine gas. It is liberated when you mix bleach with acids and bases. Most detergents aren't basic or acidic enough to cause a problem, but it is best to avoid experimenting. Do not mix bleach with ammonia or toilet bowl cleaners/rust removers. This makes lots of chlorine quickly. It burns the tissue of the lungs and the esophagus.

That is not true at all.
Now, bleach and ammonia (found in Windex) mixed together is bad for you and you'll know when you do it because the mixture starts to put off this really noxious gas.
however, bleach is a very strong chemical to be cleaning your house every night with. I would switch to something less strong or dilute it a lot.

The fumes from the resulting concoction can affect your breathing and might render you unconscious! Seriously. When you clean with these things, use gloves to protect your skin-especially if you have sensitive skin. The chemicals could cause a rash or burn the top layer of skin. Also, be sure to open a window every time you use these things as the fumes can burn your esophagus and cause you to pass out-or worse. I too have a bit of OCD and love a clean house. Part of that is taking the necessary precautions. If you do these things, you won't be putting yourself at risk. Happy cleaning!

Bleach and any detergent when mixed can produce gases that will send you to the emergency room....

Thats why they bother to put the warning on the label - because it can blister your lungs....

Whatever you do, dont ever mix ammonia with bleach....(or products that contain it, like comet).....thats about the most toxic mix you can have....
