Making columns in Microsoft Word 2003?

For my literature class, I have to write what our teacher calls a "Double Journal Entry." For this, I was told to put lines from the book on the left side, and my response on the right. Unfortunately, I do not know how to make columns in Microsoft word. Does anyone know how?

Your best bet is to create a two-column table, then hide the borders so it looks better.

To create the table, do this:

    1. Click the Table->Insert->Table menu item.

    2. Give the table two columns and as many rows as you feel like. You can always add or delete rows later. I suggest you make a row per entry. This will keep your left-hand entries neatly associated with the right.

    Other thoughts:

    1. To turn off the borders, click in the table, then click the Tables->Table properties menu item. Select Borders and shading and edit to suit.

    2. You can use the first row as a table header that will be repeated on each page. To do this, click in the first row, then click the Table >Heading Rows Repeat menu item.

    Hope that helps.

use the column icon on the formatting tool bar. it looks like two columns of hyphens on a button.

Oh, and then set the margins and columns width as you prefer.
