I understand that AE traveller cheques (in Euros) can be encashed fee free at some Post Offices and BNP Paribas in Paris. Which one is better in terms of services and easy-to-find location?

You are right that AE Traveller Cheque can be changed to Euro Cash in BNP Paribas and La Poste (Post Office).

Location: Branches of BNP are usually located in the main street which is easy to be found. But for La Poste, they usually are located in narrow streets... In tourist areas, BNP is easier to be found.

Service: Compared with Hong Kong, French banking service is far worse than Hong Kong. You need to tolerate their slow speed... The service of La Poste is still OK, but they seldom handle traveller chaque which may delay your time so much...

As a result, I strongly advise you to cash your traveller cheque in BNP which located in tourist areas, for example branches below:

37, avenue des Champs Elysees, 75008

55 , rue de rivoli, 75001 (near Louvre)

2, place de l'Opera, 75002 (near Opera Garnier)

15, place de la Republique, 75003

169, rue de Rennes, 75006 (near Montparnasse)
