Hello! Well, i´m a vegan, and from my experience I can tell you that a vegetarian diet has been really helpful for my health. Going from omnivore to api-ovo-lacto vegetarian, and the to vegan it´s been really wonderful, not only to my body, but specially to my mind and spirit.
Anyway, probably you may want more "serious" information about it so you can look out in any "web searcher" for the Position of the American Dietetic Association and the Dietitians of Canada, where it states that "appropriately planned vegetarian diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases" in every state of human development (pregnancy, infancy, adolescence, etc). It is really detailed, and i´m sure it will help you a lot (look for the 2006 one).
These health benefits, have been proven to be lower/less (?)(sorry, i still have problems with my english) even in those people who eat animals on rare ocassions, or those who eat "only" poultry or fish.
As for moral concerns, where we should draw the line is in "sentience". From this point of view, there is no difference between killing a cow, a pig, a bird, shrimp or a fish. All of them can feel pain, and suffer. If this is important to you, hope you can consider it when you make your choice.
For your health and theirs, hope you can stay a veggie!
All my strenght for you!
