How can I clean my Keds?

I bought these two pairs of Keds and they're both canvas (I think) and beautiful :) I'm wondering how to keep them clean or to clean them. Can I just throw them in the washer or what, will that loosen the glue or something?

Here's the shoes:

I can remember when Keds were completely washable. I can't see why things would be any different today.

You can wash them in the washer. I prefer to use cold water, it's easier on the fabrics, and has less chance of fading the colors. I never put mine in the dryer because I'm afraid that would loosen the glue. When you take them out of the washer, stuff wash rags into the toes and it will help them dry quicker. Then I let them air dry. If it's a warm day, I sometimes sit them outside.

this is going to sound strange but here goes

    what you will need

    1.bucket

    2.alka seltser packet

    3.

the first thing you are going to need to do is scrub your shoes with (strangly enough) window cleaner

put a packet of alka-selster and any kind of dish soap in a bucket of WARM water gently put your shoes in.

wait about thirty minutes or untill you feel they are clean

often times machine washing can shrink your shoes if you use a cold cycle

they can also tear the paint off its awfull (I should know my duaghters keds were RUINED by the monster machine)

blow dry shoes with hair dryer if in hurry if not put next to heator or radiator (not to close)

Source(s): take care of my duaghters keds for a long time and finnaly figured out what works

Keds wash perfectly in the washing machine. Just let them air dry, don't use a dryer.
