On what occasions can men wear a flower on the lapel?

On most occasions which call for formal wear. Depending on the occasion, one could wear a carnation (most common) or maybe a rose. Be sure it matches the tie and isn't louder than the rest of the look. One occasion I think you would not wear a flower in the lapel is a funeral.
