Should capital punishment be abolished? This controversial topic has
been under heated debates for the last few years. I would like to address this issue with the following points:
1. Legal perspective
The punishment known as death sentence seeks to preserve the peacefulness and benefits of the society through the deprivation of
one's life, and the enforcement and judgment is served by jail and
Jail and court is known as the legal institutions. According to some
studies, the US legal institutes has a misjudgment ratio of seven to
one. In other words, every eight death sentence issued, one was
wrongfully accused, this is very high ratio.
Whats noteworthy is, the US legal system is world renowned for its
stringency. Even a country like US has such a high ratio, not to
mention Taiwan. But, should death sentence be abolished because of
this reason? I think not. Instead, we need a more comprehensive and
exact legal system to protect and enforce death sentence.
Because the principle of our culture is "Killers pay with their
lives". This principle is deep-rooted in our minds, its absolute,
because if its challenged, it will waver the foundation of the country,
and bring about social unrest.
2. Human rights perspective
One of the reason some people object the death sentence is because
they think the convicts have human rights too, to this I strongly
object! It is true that death sentenced convicts have rights too, but
that is before they committed the crime that is worthy of death
sentence. Once they did, they became a crazy and fatally dangerous
beast, no longer a human being! At least, not a normal human being!
The laws of our country does not punish one with death sentence if you
kill in the act of self-defense or negligence, so if they took others
live willingly, treats other's lives as junk, then we have no reason
to treasure their lives, and waste our efforts preserving his so-called
human rights, not only is it unnecessary, it is a complete waste!

3. Economical and society perspective
In terms of economics, death sentence is cheaper than life sentence, at
least personally I believe that is the case!

And I do not think tax payers should spend money to feed an unpredictable timed bomb!
Especially in Taiwan, a place with such small land yet high density of
population, there is no room for them.
Based on the stated points, I personally oppose the abolishment of
death sentences.Source(s): me!
