I believe that all masturbation falls under the sixth commandment: You shall not commit adultery. Within marriage, masturbation is considered a type of infidelity. In addition, the sexual act must always be open to the creation of new life.

According the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

"The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose."

The Bible doesn't specifically address male or female masturbation. The idea that it is sinful comes from the fact that we are commanded to take every thought captive to Christ, and that particular act is usually accompanied with specific thoughts.

Sometimes I just wonder what happened to not talking about certain things? No one would be telling you it was sinful if you kept it to yourself. I mean, since when is this a topic of polite conversation anyway?

probably has something to do with that verse that says "do not spill your seed upon the ground" in the OT I think. Its been a long time since I had to remember anything from that collection of fairytales..

I'll bet thats where the rule for male masturbation comes from, and naturally its extended to females as well - just because.

Well, I guess I shouldn't be having sex anymore. Supposedly, the sex act should only be performed with the possibility of creating new life. I'm largely past child-bearing age now and can't reproduce so I guess that means I stay celibate for the rest of my life.

i read that somewhere in the bible, i was pissed at those couple pages lol

i think the bible isn't all true, i mean masturbating being a sin,.. thats a little wacko

but that goes back to the classical conception of virtue and vice (Aristotelian) or incontinence violence and fraud

where incontinence is the weakness in controlling one's desires and natural urges

but its the mildes of them three, so don't feel so bad

    there is no biblical justification.

God only speaks of lust. if you wanna put sexual immoral acts under that category then God has plenty to say about that.
