All states except Louisiana are based on English Common Law. LA is based on Napoleonic Code. If the case was closed as a result of a plea-bargain, there is no appeal because that right was surrendered as a part of the plea bargain. If there was an error in procedure by the court or new evidence has been discovered, there is no time limit for your right to appeal.
