What exactly is a "Small 'd' Democrat" or a "Small 'r' Republican"?

A small democrat is a person who believes in democracy as opposed to an autocracy, or dictatorship. A small republican is a believer in republican government as opposed to a monarchy. In American politics, its the contrary Democrats are more liberal than Republicans. In Spain during the Civil War, the Republicans were socialists as opposed to Franco and the Monarchists. So it all depends on the context

I believe the capital letter for both parties requires that you abandon all good sense and zealously support either the most extreme right or the most extreme left position on every topic. As loudly and obnoxiously as possible. Compromise and rational debate do not exist for these capital letter partisans.
Funny how the small letter is intended to be an insult....
