Splay foot?

My bf's feet point outwards, and it's nearly impossible to hold his feet together parallel and flat (inner heel to inner heel, big toe to big toe) - they rotate outward, he has always been like this but I don't get why he walks like this, I don't want to hurt his feelings and ask him, I tried googling it and found nothing about it..

Is this a problem? Is it even possible to straighten his (bare) feet when walking and hold them together, flat, the way I described...?

The defect can be rectifies by surgery. Discuss him and ask him to consult an orthopedic surgeon. The defect is due to over growth of some small foot bones.
