How many of these shorter players do you see with big numbers in rebounds or blocks?! Also a dominant tall defender can cause drama for the entire opposing team. A dominant short player is only going to lock down one player. Small men get up to dunk & during the game the very briefly visit the land of big men for a few seconds each play. However, they're no up there to dominate so many of the big man game.

boykins and yao are the current shortest and tallest

    mugsy is the shortest ever

    muresan is the tallest ever

hhhmm... come to think of it, can we still count boykins as the current shortest if he's not on any team's roster?

The shortest player ever to play in the NBA is Muggsy Bogues at 1.60 meters (5 ft 3 in). Other shorter players have also experienced success at the professional level. Anthony "Spud" Webb was just 5 feet 7 inches (1.70 m) tall, but had a 42-inch (1.07 m) vertical leap, giving him significant height when jumping. Currently the shortest player in the NBA is Earl Boykins of the Denver Nuggets. He is 5 feet 5 inchs.
