It all depends to which Candian High Commission you apply your case to. All the Canadian High Commissions have different processing times and it also depends to which category you have applied to. Moreover, complete details regrading the processing time of different Canadian High Commissions throughout the world are given on this website.

www.cic.gc.ca is the web site for Canadian immigration. If you qualify for permanent resident status it will likely take at least 2 years unless a Canadian company wants to hire you.

It depends on what category you applied in.

Permanent residency for spouses (family class - outside processing) is currently taking 6 months.

Skilled workers is currently taking 72 months - thats 6 years.

On average ALL applicants from New Delhi are currently taking 69 months (thats well over 5 years).

Legally or not. Either one will bring the same results, but Illegal methods work faster.

Just jump off the boat and declare refuge status.
