force between graphite layer

我想問下

- force between graphite layer 係咩呀?

- van der waals' force 同inter molecular force有咩分別?

教科書話force between graphite layer 係van der waals' force

但係graphite冇molecule 點解會有呢個force?

Update:

但graphite 不是giant covalent bonding嗎?

為什麼有molecular force既?

    - force between graphite layer 係咩呀?Ans: 是van der waals' force

    - van der waals' force 同inter molecular force有咩分別?Ans: inter molecular force是所有在分子與分子之間的弱的吸引力的一個統稱.其實inter molecular force包括(1)perment dipole- dipole attraction force (例如HCl與HCl), (2)dipole-induced dipole (例如HCl與Neon), (3)induced dipole - induced dipole (例如Neon與Neon)及(4)hydrogen bonding.(例如HF與HF),而van der waals' force 就與(3)induced dipole - induced dipole 是屬於同一種的吸引力[即講van der waals' force 就等於(3)],這力是由 non-polar molecule (neon)與non-polar molecule (Neon)因其最外層電子在某時刻(any time instant)因電子的分佈不均而引起的.所以它有另外的名叫dispersion force and London force.[正因為如此,所以化學書多用non-polar molecules such as methane或 butane來講解van der waals' force 的]

    但係graphite冇molecule 點解會有呢個force?Ans: 你應該這樣理解,graphite雖然冇molecule,但是你不要忘記,在graphite中,是由碳原子造成的.這些碳原子先組成一個六角形,再用這些六角形構成一層graphite layer.而當兩層layer互相接近時,而當中的電子又在某一時會走了去另一旁時,就會出現了電子分佈不均的情況,因此出現van der waals' force.[但不是graphite中的π電子].你可以做一個簡單的實驗的.當你煎蛋時,你會把一些花生油放在鑊上,而當鑊未加熱時,這些花生油是很難平均分佈到全個鑊上,因為花生油層與花生油層之間有van der waals' force.[這力把油層hold住].當加熱後,花生油層之間有van der waals' force就被克服了,所以花生油就可以很容易地把全個鑊佈滿.情況有如graphite layer層與graphite layer層之間的吸引力.

    但graphite 不是giant covalent bonding嗎? graphite 是giant covalent bonding

    graphite 的構造是由carbon 所組成的平面molecular network. 就像一維的diamond. 而每一層的graphite 就係由van der waals' force, 呢一種force 吸引.

    van der waals' force 係 inter molecular force 的一種.
