    Because it sounded GREAT!

Don't believe me? Listen to some Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Elvis (the great early stuff, not the Vegas years), Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, etc. etc. etc. How could they NOT love it?

Because it was something new. The older people get, the less they like change. Movements always start with the youth.
