Honestly I think it still draws more attention to the question. Many people on here don't understand how the points really work.
One possible theory supporting the people who say "Ten POINTS for best-answer," is when a question is left to voting, it rarely is given a fair shot at people selecting a information based best answer. Truth be told, the first person to answer the question will often win based on voters selecting it quickly to earn a point and move onto the next question. Stupid, but the voting numbers show it's true.
Go to the voting and read some question, often the first answer will have so many votes, it not worth picking one that is funnier and more informative.
