Costa Rica is located in Central America (which is a cultural region; as is Latin America) but technically all of Central America is the southernmost tip of North America.
Therefore, Costa Rica is located on the continent of North America (if you live in the U.S.) or the continent of America (if you live in Latin America).
This depends on where you live. Here in Nicaragua we are taught that there are only 6 continents: America, Australia, Asia, Europe, Antarctica and Africa. In the U.S. they're taught 7 continents: North America, South America, Australia, Asia, Europe, Antarctica and Africa. However, no countries recognize Central America as a continent on its own. The definition of a continent differs with your place of residence.
