Whats the difference between a lutz and a flip? figure skating?
They seam like exactly the same? :S except one has a three turn and the other starts with just reaching back from back crosscuts.

Well, there can be variations in jump preparations, though the entrances you described are the typical ways . . . easiest to recognize for the "spectator". They are both toe jumps, but flip is launched off a back outside edge and lutz is launched off a back outside edge.
So what does that all mean? Here are some youtube videos that point out the entrance edges for both jumps (correct and incorrect). Visuals make an explanation so much clearer!
Hope that helps!
