Data transfer from an old computer (xp) to a new one (vista)

How can I use only a LAN cross cable to transfer data from an old computer (xp) to a new one (Vista)?

    Connect the cross-over LAN cable and connect between the two PC's network card.

    Manually set both PC to use same IP subnet, i.e. Vista to 192.168.1.10 and WinXP to 192.168.1.20

    Share a folder (i.e. Share_Folder) on your Vista PC and assign a user with read/write access (both share and NTFS permission)

    From your WinXP access your Vista share by typing command \\192.168.1.10\Share_Folder , then input your Vista user credential with write access to the share and you can access the share folder from WinXP

    Start copying files over
