Spybot Search & Destroy question....?

I asked a question last night and mentioned I was having issues with my computer. The browsers were freezing up and I was getting error messages. I've done a microsoft windows upate -everything is up to date. I've also done a virus scan (Norton), and even tried to uninstall and reinstall my browsers and was still having problem.

I was told to use "Spybot Search & Destroy." I've never used it before but I downloaded one version here:

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.h...

It ran a scan and told me that I had 710 errors, but wanted to charge me $30 to fix everything. It did fix 15 errors for free.

So, I searched for a free version of "Spybot Search & Destroy" and got version 5.1 and it did a scan and told me I only had 51 errors. Those got fixed, but I don't think the program picked up everything? Why would one say I have 710 errors and anoter version say I had only 50?

Is there a GOOD free version of this program that will fix everything or should i pay?

From the link that you have, its not the correct one, there's no charge to use spybot search and destroy. You can contribute money if you want. I would download the one one listed below, you will be surprised how many problems and or bad sites they can block for you.

I know Trendmicro has a good online free antivirus scanner that will remove all virus's. Try that out. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ As I once said, most free downloadable antivirus programs are not worth it, they usually fix only half the problems and then want money to fix the rest.

Microsoft also has a good free online scanner. http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm It does quite a bit more though, it also cleans the computer, does a defrag for you, and what I like best is the registry cleaner. You can pick and chose what you what to do though, if you only want to scan and fix virus's then you can.

Microsoft also has a free spyware only program that is fairly good. http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/s...
