Where can I get the Texas appraisal and adjuster License?

Is the adjuster job well paid? I live in Spring Texas close to Houston. Does anybody do this for a living? Is it a good to be an independent contractor?

You need to take the test, be fingerprinted, etc. Go to the TX insurance department website.

It's HARD to be an independent contractor. You need to market yourself to the insurance companies in the area. Unless we have a hurricane, you're going to have a hard time making a living.

I'd suggest you keep your day job for a few years, while doing the appraising part time, until you build up your client base.
