It's called having only X amount of money and spending it on the really important stuff. You unwittingly pointed out a dirty little secret that Liberals tend to ignore. They like to say that Bush's military industrial complex boys are getting rich on this war. The truth is, the companies that supply everything from missiles and MREs, to refurbishing tanks and making boots, are scattered through almost every state in the Union. States that have Congressman and Senators who LIKE those jobs in their states. They create jobs, bring money to their districts and keeps their voters happy. If their voters are happy, they stay in office. You want to tell the workers in the factory that makes Kevlar helmets that they are getting laid off for X-mas because you wont allocate adequate funds?
Contrary to popular belief, the companies that supply A LOT of the things our Soldiers and Marines use and rely in day to day are not manufactured in big industrial complexes in the big cities. They are made by small companies, in relatively small towns and cities, and are a major source of employment and income to the communities they are located in.
