What happens if you drink spoiled milk?

I was making potatoes and decided to add some milk to it. However I didn't know the milk was spoiled until I had already ate the potatoes and decided to see if it was expired or not.

I didn't use very much , barely even 1/5 a cup if even that, but I'm still wondering if it can still be very dangerous.

The milk wasn't chunky or anything but it was definently expired by it's smell, which wasn't that bad but strong enough to tell it expired.

So...

What do you think?

Update:

Also, there were about 19-24 potatoes. So about 1/5 a cup mixed into like 22 potatoes.

It is nice to see that about 20 people are going to answer and say the same thing "you may be sick". The answer they gave is bullocks.

Sour milk is perfectly fine. You have eaten sour cream with no ill effects. Sour milk is just a flavouring as much as sour cream is. Before pasteurization spoiled milk may have been a problem because the bacteria that is present in fresh milk is not always friendly. Now there is no problem, and as long as you have kept the milk separate from poo and eggs, cross contamination should not be a problem.

To tell you the truth you may have hit upon some culinary secret with the sour milk. Sour milk is used in a lot of Indian and Tibetan recipes. The milk adds a dimension of flavour that is reminiscent of citrus for people that have no access to the fruit.

Never worry, of it isn't blue or an olive green it is ok.

My 2 year old grandson drank some milk that had been sitting in a cup on a toy shelf. We didn't know how long it had been there. We went to the pharmacy and asked if we should give him something to make him throw up. Pharmacist said not to worry that it wouldn't make him sick. He was right.

. I didn t know it was there, so I don t know how long it had been there. Another grandson, about 2 years old, found the glass and drank from it. The milk was in a big chunk on the top and watery substance was the in bottom of the cup. I went to the pharmacy to ask if I should give him something to make him throw up. Pharmacist said not to worry about it that fermented milk won t make him sick. He was right. Grandson showed no signs of getting sick.

I ate a bowl of cereal with sour milk....didn t even know it was sour until my son went to get a glass of milk and he said it was past date and off .

It was too late for me...I woke up at 2:00 am and had it bad from both ends. Still can t eat today. So my answer would be sour milk, or milk that has gone bad will make you sick to your stomach you may vomit and have diarrhea but it won t kill you.

If you get sick from sour milk you will be ok unless ur lactose intolerant if so the milk will make u sick and give u diarrhea due to the chunks forming from the lactose levels increasing

if it is sour, then it was caused by lactobacilli, in which you will be just fine. if you do get an upset stomach, its because of the low pH by the sour milk, causing a microbial upset of your intestinal flora and fauna.

however, ever once in a while, you will have milk that is decayed. this happens with pasteurized milk that has been contaminated by none lactobacilli microbes. most likely fungi.

it will taste like tooth decay. spit it out, its toxic and if you ingest too much you will die.

its foul tasting though if the milk is cold, you may not smell anything.

milk is a great food source so all sorts of microbes can live in there. pasteurization kills off all the good microbes in the milk, leaving a blank canvass for any microbe to colonize.

    hope this helps

I drank unopened, non-expired, company-produced milk that was left out of the refrigerator for a few days and it made me barf. This was a month ago.
