Why are such relationships always frawned upon? These have been perhaps as old as the institution of marriage

It is a two-sided coin; there are also those marriages without extra-marital affairs, but they are not talked about as much as the affair-ridden marriages.

The reason I frown upon them is the pain it creates for the loyal, faithful partner and the family. Most who truly loved their partner say that it really wasn't worth it after living through the aftermath and its affect on their family.

Once upon a time extra-marital relationships may have made sense. There was a time when people married not for love but for position, money and to produce heirs. These marriages were arranged. While the married couple may have liked or even loved each other to a degree this was not a neccesity. It was not uncommon for the husband to have a mistress or the wife to have a lover. The partners outside the marriage understood their places. They stayed quietly in the background. The problem w/ extra-marital affairs today 1) You marry for love(there is no need to look for it elsewhere). 2. The other man/woman try to act as though they are as good as the spouses(they don't know their places).

First and foremost, you should know that the husband will never really forgive his wife for the cheating, even if he pretends to have forgiven her. The resentment will eventually resurface, usually in the time of divorce, even if it’s 25 years in the future. Husbands are very sensitive about this matter, and even a jealous husband with an innocent wife will harbor the same resentment. So, really, the ending of the extra marital relationship is not the hardest part. Providing that the lover knew about the married woman being married, then he had no expectation of her commitment to him so she should just tell him that she told her husband, who forgave her (more or less) but of course, she has to end it. Lovers of married women really hates it when the husband knows! Now, the hard part will be the marriage with that big huge shadow over it.

They are frowned upon as the other person in the scenario is the one who gets hurt so bad it is hard to learn to trust again. I have never had it happen to me and if it did my husband would have to much to loose like a loving wife and 5 kids. But he is not like that so I have no worried. Good question though.

Dam but you got a point there LOL....

don't know why just how it is I remember sitting there as a Little girl listing to my aunty's talking (they think we dnt listen to wht they are saying) and it was always a bad way that they would talk about it so I think I grew up always been told that its bad and not something you put up with

If a couple is secure enough in their relationship then they shouldn't worry about what others say. But people are so judgemental in this country. So, if you and your spouse are ok with it, go forth and enjoy!

Because you take vows when you are married. Do you want your wife cheating on you with another man?
