What would happen is that no one candidate would get the majority of the Electoral college. Then the top 3 candidates would go to the House for a vote by its members.
However, this isn't a problem. This was how this was designed to be. The founding fathers designed it this way so the House would pick most of the presidents. In fact, James Madison once wrote that he believed that 9 out of 10 would be determined by the House. He and the other founding fathers would be horrified today knowing that only 1 to date has been determined by the House.
