Can anybody help with a quote from Siddhartha chapter 10 "The Son"?

I am writing an essay about Siddhartha but forgot to check out a book and need a quote. I vaguely remember something that Vasudeva said/thought regarding Siddhartha's son and how he would give Siddhartha time to realize he nor his son were happy together, or something. LoL Really the quote just has to support the idea that Vasudeva lets Siddhartha learn things for himself instead of telling him what should be. BTW I don't care what translation of the book it's in as long as it's english.
