The death penalty exists in most countries, and should be carried out. If somebody commits a murder or rape, they should be punished with capital punishment. Some people may say that it is too cruel, but what about the victim? When we show mercy for the criminal, who will show mercy for the poor victim?
Nobody has the right to take away someone else's life. Even if the murderer is hung or killed, the victim cannot come back alive. The death sentence must not be abolished, else how will the victims be compensated?
Some people may ask, "What if the criminal was wrongly accused or misjudged?” However, it is very irresponsible unfair to abolish the death penalty just because we are afraid of misjudging a case. Many more true criminals could be let go because of our fear to misjudge.
Nevertheless, a person whose verdict was self-defense should not receive the capital punishment. One who was defending should receive a lighter punishment that those who are malicious.
All in all, the death penalty should exist. We should not be afraid to take criminals' life. Victims had the right to live. If criminals are not punished with the death penalty, how would the victims' loved ones feel? Our society will become turbulent without the death penalty.

This is not a sound argument. Too many holes in your argument. Here is the rundown.
You are contradicting yourself when you state, "Nobody has the right to take away someone else's life" and "We should not be afraid to take criminals' life." Does one have the right to take another's life or not?
Being cruel to the perpetrators is not the same as showing mercy to the victims or vicims' family. Capital publishment is not any form of compensations to the victims.
You touch on the scenario where innocent people are wrongfully convicted of and subsequently executed for a crime they doesn't commit, but quickly dismiss it without offering any solution or compromise. You simply say it would be "irresponsible unfair" to (victims to) abolish capital punishment. At the same time, you are implying it is "responsibly fair" to those innocent people. What about their rights? The desire not to let criminals go free does not justify death penalty. How about life in prison without possibility of parole? Why is this not an option?
In your conclusion, you justify capital publishment as a mean to appease victim's family. That's bad. That's not what capital punishment is for. The last sentence in your conclusion is not a fact, and is widely disputed. Here is a link (http://www.amnesty.ca/deathpenalty/canada.php) that counters your statement.
Your position is for death penalty, so the subject could have been "necessity for death penalty" or "justifications for death penalty."
Capital punishment is too big of a task to be tackled in less than 3 minutes of speech. This is a good attempt in which you offer many personal opinions, but no facts or research data to back them up. You do not consider the other side of argument. You may want to research and gather supporting documents and data on positive impacts of capital punishment. You should also consider and repudiate the other side of argument.

Happened to come across this article, http://www.slate.com/id/2176196/?GT1=10636. According to the article, the U.S. is "the only advanced Western democracy" to have death penalty.
