Talk to them. Tell them that there is a guy that you really like. He is sweet, cute, funny, and treats you well. You enjoy spending time with him and he makes you happy. Explain to them what is so great about this guy. Ask them when they began to date people. Don't use the "everyone else does it" because they will deem you immature.

Be upfront and honest. Try and make them understand.

16 dosen't seem young when you are that age, but I'm 21 and looking back I have matured greatly since then. Handle the situation maturely as you can. Have you tried speaking with them? Think of the impression you could be giving them, how often do you change boyfriends? If you think you've found someone worthy of bringing home then surgest a dinner of something, so your parents can actually meet him and get to know him before they decide he's not good enough. What ever you do, don't sneak around, you don't want to lose their trust.

I think you should do as you please, as long as you are safe. Don't put yourself in dangerous situations (being intoxicated with anyone you don't consider to be a very close friend is an example of a dangerous situation), and never, ever have sex without a condom. Don't have sex at all if you don't want to, and don't let anyone distract you from your number 1 job, which is learning. I mean learning about life, as well as your school studies. You should be planning for college now. If you can do that and have a boyfriend, go for it.

As for what to do about your parents, my best suggestion is to present the guys to them as your "friends." This is not exactly a lie, is it? I hope that the guys you are dating are your friends.

I was not allowed to have a boyfriend until I was 18, and now that I am a parent of 13 and 15 year old girls I understand why. They are trying to save you from heartache. It hurts as a parent to know that your child goes against your wishes and has a boyfriend anyway, which both of my girls have done JUST LIKE YOU, I hope you know that your parents are NOT trying to be mean they want you to focus on school not boys, but I guess you are more focused on boys that school. So I really don't know what to tell you, just like as a parent I don't know what to say to my girls to get them to focus on school. I respected my parents and didn't have a boyfriend until I was actually 20 and then I married him, I saw my friends go through lots of heartache, and I am sure you have had a few already. I guess just be honest with your parents, I know that now days many kids have young love, but very little committment. Sorry I am a Parent.

Listen to your parents. Ask them when you can date and under what circumstances can you see a boy (come over to the house). Don't be rude or disrespectful, but express that you feel you are missing out on a lot of fun things because you can't date. They only want the best for you and are afraid for you. I know it's tough for you. I wish you the best.

respect your parents wishes and going behind there back is not a good thing there dumb they will catch on. They only have your best intentions in mind and with so many reports of child abductions and no wonder in todays world you have to be carefull cant just go for first good looking dull witted one in the halls. if insist on dating try find someone your parents would think be trustworthy or can just wait 2 years aint nothin more than drop in bucket of time

That is a tough question to answer. Most parents allow 16 year olds to date. Is it because of religious beliefs or do you have some kind of bad history with dating?

Im 15 and Im not allowed to date tell Im 18, and Im cool with it. Your parents are right, 16 is way to young to date.

Also lieing will come back to bite you in but, trust me on this.

I guess just as long as nothing bad happens you're ok. i used to lie about my boyfriends in middle school. and then one day i was just like ok. i'm just gonna let them find out. and so they found out. they didn't make a big deal out of it. after that, i got a load off my shoulders! it made everything feel so much better!! no more hiding around! it was awesome.

just let your parents know that you can be trusted. but i guess that won't cut it if your parents are strict. but give them some time...they're still thinking of you as a little baby. but while they're pondering over all that, you're growing up...i think that's what happens to parents...haha

it is very common for kids your age to date and not tell their parent's, i know i did it, and as far as that goes i bet most people leaving comments have done it as well, and as far as certain guy's not being right for you, your parent's are about 100% correct on this issue, most H.S. romances don't last more than a month, and some end up getting married, and then divorced, dating is healthy and necessary at your age, it is natural and expected, your parent's did it, they just don't like the fact that their daughter is growing up.........Good Luck
