what is the difference between dementia and delirium?

    dementia is permanent and happens slowly (like Alzheimer's dementia). currently it is irreversible.

    delirium can come on quickly and is reversible (can be caused by fevers, medications, dehydration, starvation, etc.)

    dementia is a neurological impairment where there is a process of loosing skills.

    delirium is a psychological impairment where a person looses touch with reality.
