Why does my dog always try to smell my breath first thing in the morning? Something to do with ownership?

Dogs will smell the breath of the pack leader.

To show respect and to see what they have been eating. This is an honor. The dog really loves and respects you.

My dog does the same thing. Especially when I'm done brushing my teeth. Usually potent smells like morning breath, garlic, peppermint are very facinating to a dog. Remember that they have a super olfactory sense, sniffing is their way of investigating. It's ok. =)

Dogs find stuff like that fascinating, same reason they roll around in poop.

Yeah your doggie might just do that to try to bond with you.

Cats do that also , I think pets do this as a way to bond with their owners.
