1. Indeed, the Vatican lamented, in a recent press release, the tourism industry's "lack of women in leadership positions" and called for equal work pay for women in the sector. Ironically, the Vatican seems to hold the tourism industry to higher standards than it holds itself, with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone pointing out in a press release that," One must unfortunately recognize that notwithstanding this massive female presence(in tourism), in many cases vertical integration persists in the leadership and managerial reponsibilities of the tourism industry."
2. Some of the big issues relate to the realization that there(should be) no limits to what women can achieve in the industry if they so desire, increasing skills, reducing barriers of entry and ability for career progression, balancing family/child needs, increasing the decision-making power, eliminating exploitation from prostitution and what is essentially slave labour.
