I'm trying to calculate the crane boom load acting on the hydraulic lifting ram cylinder.?

I have an angle sensor and jib length sensor to calculate the jib radius.

The load has to be measured using 1 or 2 pressure sensors in the flow and return side of the hydraulic ram. I know i also have to calculate the ram effective force radius to calibrate the sensor before i calculate the load at any jib radius.

Please can anyone help me compile an equation or direct me to a web page which can help me resolve this.

    just treat it like a simple lever problem with an over hung load. then divide the area of the cylinder to get the pressure required.

    the force created by the hydraulic ram will be applied at one point and you should look for the bending moment if no pivot point (fulcrum)

    if there is a pivot point then it's just a lever with the force

    determined by the force - length products
