I don't think Christianity dates back quite that far, and the Catholic church did not begin for a while after Christianity did. There is doubt that Jesus really lived, for various reasons. One is that the Bible has contradictions about him. One passage says he was born in the reign of Herod who died 4BC, while another passage says he was born during Quirinius' census that could not have been before 6 or 7 AD, if it occurred at all. Joseph is said to be 28 or 41 in line from David, but Joseph was not Jesus' father, or was he? The Messiah was a desendant of David, and Paul said Jesus was the Messiah, but Jews say he could not be, unless he was the son of Joseph. Christians try to have it both ways and say Jesus was both Messiah and son of God born of a virgin, but both cannot be true. I am an atheist scholar.
