The patient is postitioned at the front edge of the seat, with the feet in stride or side by side.
Positioned in stride ,behind and to one side off the patient,the therapist grasps the patient's gait belt and shoulder.
2. The cane is postitioned alongside the foot on the sid on whichit will be held.
One hand is placed on the armrest and the other hand is placer on the cane .
The patient must push dirctlydownward on the cane to prevent the cane foem tipping.
When the patient has only one functional upper extremity is used on the cane to push to standing.
