The North Sea Oilfields have been mentioned several times,
by Scots who want independence, so I would like to make the following points.
1) Does anybody know how much revenue is produced from
the oil and compared it to the current cost of subsidising
2) Would Scotland re-imburse England, for the initial
investment that was made in the early days. At one stage
the oil was costing more to produce, than it was sold for.
3) With the current drive to find alternative forms of energy, to
oil, with particular reference to transport. (Hydrogen cell,
hybrid engines etc., it should be obvious, that there will
eventually be a glut of oil. This will result in a severe drop
in the price of oil and only easily accessible oil deposits
will be commercially viable.
Conclusion:- Give them the oil and pull up the drawbridge.
