Mechanical vs Electronic Fuel Injection?

What is the difference between the two, any pros or cons, and I thought that MFI is the inferior of the two but how come its still in use today?

mechanical injection is inferior as its ability to adapt to variables is limited. in drag racing circles, this is called 'piss and dribble' injection and is as scientific as getting the right sized hose to piss and dribble fuel for max engine requirements. also look at old style diesel engines that use individual lines to each injector; same story.

efi is much more efficient as it can adapt to changes in engine base over time, can calculate exact fuel and ignition requirments hyper accurately based upon real time engine data (such as revs, air temp, coolant temp, throttle position, engine ancilliary load, trans gear, etc) thousands of times a second.
