And libs try to claim Bush is stupid?
“One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Tuesday. This jerk is one of the dumbest partisan hacks in congress, why aren't libs calling this pea brain out for saying something so incredibly stupid?

Reid has lost his credibility even in his own state he has only 20 per cent rating. He is a puppet of the Union mobsters.

I don't think the reason there are the fires is global warming, but I do think climate change, global warming, whatever you call it is *exacerbating* the situation. So Reid may have slipped a bit--maybe he should said the fires are so severe because of global warming--but he did back off his point, in case you didn't notice.
Now, I live in DC, and in mid-October, the temparatures are in the upper 70s! Normally, my apartment building turns on the heat around October 15. That has certainly NOT been necessary this year. I was in NY last week, and it was quite warm--in the 70s during the day and maybe upper 50s or lower 60s at night. I didn't need my jacket much. This is mid-October, okay? The leaves have not changed. It is not supposed to be this warm this late this far north. Something is seriously wrong here.
But, no, you'd rather go gain partisan points and slam someone because you don't like his political party.

I listened to Bush's speech from the evacuation center in San Diego where I've been volunteering -- and it was about as stupid as Reid's comment. Both show very little understanding or compassion for the people who are suffering.
That being said -- purely from a statistical perspective -- the Santa Ana winds that make fires in this area so unpredictable and hard to contain have been growing stronger as the climate has been shifting -- so, Reid's statement was literally correct.
The fact that he would use a natural disaster as a stump platform to make a partisan comment or push a political agenda is deplorable -- anyone who tries to turn a tragedy into a political game should be ashamed of themselves.

I have no particular love for the democratic party, but at least they do not allow their political interests to dictate scientific evidence in as blatant a way as the Republican party does. Whether it is homosexuality, evolution, global warming, or just about anything else you can be sure to find conservatives denying evidence because it is politically inconvenient. Nearly every person who has answered this question so far has said nothing at all of any relevance to the science here. So far there is nothing but political statements, all supportive of each other, many with thumbs up, and all totally irrelevant. What did I walk in on here? A big conservative circle jerk? Until conservatives can stop rubbing each other's political egos long enough to take a look at the facts, they do not deserve to run the country. All of you need to pull your heads out of your asses, examine the evidence presented by experts in the relevant fields, and stop acting like you can give a political answer to scientific evidence. It is possible that global warming is a fabrication. But you need to offer that evidence. Everytime you just start levelling political charges you lose all credibility. And you don't have enough credibility to go about wasting it on acting childish.

Besides your own unconcealed stupidity, the only thing Reid shouldve said that he didnt say is: "LET'S IMPEACH BUSH AND CHENEY AND IMPRISON THEM BOTH!" It would take all the republiConArtists and NeoCon fascists in the world to equal one pea brain. Personally, I think Reid and Pelosi are both cowards for not bringing impeachment charges last year! The only thing "incredibly stupid" is the blind obedience and goose-stepping to the Fuhrer that lunatic right wing fringe fanatics like you insist on demonstrating to the rest of us. But then again, your little pint-size pea brain probably cant understand that, can you?

I thought we all understood that it was perfectly acceptable for a liberal to say something stupid because it must have been a joke, misunderstanding or some other innocent mistake.
Of course, if a neo-con or conservatives says something stupids they are to immediately resign, apologize and accept that somehow the fact they spelled potato wrong was a racist slur.

Big Al says global warming is going to kill us all and it's going to be the mantra for sometime to come.
Are any of you old enough to remember holes in the ozone, chlorofluorocarbons and global cooling. It was the same crap back then in reverse.
And the P C crowd jump on the band wagon.

Global warming will make droughts longer and more frequent in certain areas, so it will result in more wildfires that are bigger and last longer. So Reid's comment isn't wrong.

if this is Reid's idea of compromising in the spirit of bi-partisanship, of being cooperative, then I can only surmise that his idea of a benevolent, non-partisan leader was Josef Stalin.
Pelosi and Reid are banking on the notion that the American public is too fickle, too ensconced in the SAS mentality to remember a scant six-months back to a time when they were the leaders of a Democrat Party better identified as the "Party of No," when their only game plan for "government" was obstruction, denial, obstruction and deflection. They are betting that the SAS so prevalent in American culture will allow them to re-write even their most recent history of deception and deceit, of their placing the well-being of their political party and their political longevity before good government and doing the work they were sent to Washington do.
If we prove them right, if we allow them to get away with dodging the blame for being obstructionist, do-nothing leaders of a politically power-hungry party willing to do anything including shirking the responsibility of government to gain power, then shame on us, shame on all of us.
When he had that stroke, it destroyed that last tiny brain cell, he claimed to have had. Reid needs to be throwed out of the white house, by force. He has proved over and over that he is very mentally ill.

You can always depend on Reid to make a totally political and stupid statement. There have been wild fires in the American west for years, long before "global warming" became fashionable.
