It's a NAVY term. We don't take BATHS in the Navy, we take showers. Depending on the ship, the showers are separate from the toilets. So, we wouldn't want to say I'M GOING TO THE SHOWER ROOM TO TAKE A PEE. Some heads are mid-ships, some are on the 04 level, some are at frame 140, back aft.

BATHROOM = HEAD; WALL = BULKHEAD, STAIRS = LADDERS, POINTY END OF THE SHIP = BOW, FLAT/ROUND END OF THE SHIP = FAN TAIL/STERN, FLOOR = DECK, CEILING = OVERHEAD, BED = BUNK, MOP = SWAB, WATER FOUNTAIN = SCUTTLEBUTT, BREAKFAST/LUNCH/SUPPER = CHOW. MEDICAL DEPT = SICK BAY, ENLISTED MEDICAL PERSONNEL = DOCS, LEFT SIDE = PORT, RIGHT SIDE = STARBOARD. STEEL BEACH PICNIC = COOKOUT ON THE FLIGHT DECK; BLACK SHOE SAILOR = SURFACE NAVY, BROWN SHOE SAILOR = AVIATION SAILOR; AIRDALE = AVIATION PERSONNEL; BUBBLE HEAD = SUB SAILOR

(There are only 2 types of ships: submarines and targets).
