What does water rationing mean??
- whateverLv 41 decade agoFavorite Answer
Water rationing is the result of drought and a limited amount of water in the reservoirs for the community to use. Usually, the water co. asks people to conserve on water by not using it for the least necessary things like outdoor watering, swimming pools, washing cars and such. If the scarcity of water continues, they may then limit the amount of water per household per person and give excessive fines if that amount is exceeded.

It is when limits are made on your water usage. It can entail taking 10 minutes showers once a day, water lawns only for a half hour three times a week or taking bathes with a friend to conserve water:-). All these are examples of what you can do to conserve water which is the goal usually of water rationing.

This is bad. Water rationing is not always water shortage but the demand is greater than the supply. Supply may actually be enough in a certain place, but due to some irresponsible water user, water is no where to find. So, the government will create a measure like water rationing (allotting certain level of water to every family in a community) to meet the water requirements of every citizen.
We better be good, wiser and miser in using water. Think of better ways to discipline oneself so as not to waste water. It is better to come up with preventive measures than remedy measures.

I live in central Illinois; a city near here has enacted a water plan because their lake has sunk to the lowest level I've ever seen it in. What I can't figure out is why they waited until now to do this. But that's Decatur for you.

Limiting water usage to make the supply last longer.

Yes we are. We need more rain. It seems like we've gotten some in the past few days, but not enough to make a big difference.
