How do they cut the lines on a baseball field???

just wondering but how do they make all the lines on a baseball field so straight and neat. it cant be the direction they cut the grass. i remember watching the red sox play a playoff game few years back and the had the sox logo on the infield grass. that has to be painted right???

    The mowers are attached with special rollers that bend the grass after it's cut.

    They also use non-mowing rollers to get the effects.

    They are caused by the way the grass is cut...you mow one way, it appears dark; mow the other way, light. It's done for decoration. They look cool.

    They use a variety of methods: mow in different directions, rollers, mow at different heights, dyes.

    Most of it has to do with which direction the grass is mowed.

    for complex designs, they just mow the basic shape then color it with some sort of a fancy paint.
