Would Civil War be considered a compound word? And, if so why?

    Agreed, it is an oxymoron and not a compound.

    It is a proper name, but it is not a compound.

    A compound word is made when two words are joined to form a new word.




    (notice there is no space between the parts.)

  • actually, it's an oxymoron...what's civil about a war?
