If you are looking for someone to preserve metal, try looking up Eezox on the Internet. This is used mostly for firearms and cutlery that is made of ferrous metal.

Museums use this to preserve very old firearms. I think a medium sized bottle will cost about 15.00 with shipping and this will last for many, many jobs. Does not require alot. Their site will show how testing was done on ferrous metal.

    Only if it's absolute alcohol.

    (Most contains water).

Oil or kerosene is a better choice.
