How do you format a hard drive to do a clean install of windows ?

Assuming you use WinXP and having the original Windows XP CD, just pop it in CD drive and boot from Cd (remember to setup in BIOS and make CD drive as your first bootable device) and follow instructions:
1. Delete partition
2. Recreate partition
3. Format a newly partitioned drive
4. Install windows.

on your bios setting, set your booting sequence to read your cd / dvd drive first. save then restart. place your os cd then just follow the on-screen instruction. along the way, before windows would copy files, you will be prompted to format the hard drive. do so. windows will then install.

Hello there, if you have an original windows XP CD, you just put that on th cd drive, and restart your computer and when the computer boots up...and it ask you to boot from Cd..then just follow what it say...but if you need a step by step procedure..you can try this site...http://www.theeldergeek.com/clean_installation_of_...
