Question for academics?
I just got a letter today from the "Golden Key International Honor Society" informing me that I am offered an "invitation-only" opportunity to become a member because I am in the top 15% of my faculty.
Membership will give me opportunities for scholarships and awards, employment opportunities, local chapter activities and special member discounts. But here's the catch: there is a $90 membership fee.
Apparently, there are chapters all over the world, and I'm just wondering if this is legitimate and, if so, if it's worth it.
Have you heard of it? Is it worth joining?
Thank you in advance.

It might be legitimate, but it has problems. Check the link below, under "controversies".
