How do I solve this problem?

Question

If i have a choclate bar then give away 1/3 and then give 3/4 of the bar....how do i find out how much I have??

as I understand the question:

You would have 1/6th of the of the original (whole) bar.

you gave 1/3 to friend A. this left you with 2/3.

If you split the remaining 2 pieces in half you would have 4 pieces, then you gave 3 of the 4 pieces (3/4) to friend B this would leave you with 1/4 of 2/3 (one third went to friend A) or 1/6 of original bar.
