1)Mandy measures that a pack of A4 paper (with 500 pieces inside) is 48 mm thick, and the relative error is 1/240. Find the range of thickness of each piece of paper.

Thickness of each paper based on the measured value

= 48 / 500

= 0.096 mm

Maximum absolute error

= Measured value X relative error

= 0.096 X 1 / 240

= 0.0004

Therefore, upper limit of the thickness of a piece of paper

= 0.096 + 0.0004

= 0.0964 mm

Lower limit of the thickness of a piece of paper

= 0.096 - 0.0004

= 0.0956 mm

So, the range of thickness of each piece of paper is 0.0956 mm ~ 0.0964 mm.
