Why do we need to fill argon into electric light bulbs?

    Because the bulb filament will easily be oxidized under high temperature(about 2000 degree C).While argon is an stable noble gas, it will not form compounds with the bulb filament, so that the bulb have a longer service life.

    Argon is an inert gas so as to prevent the oxidation of the metallic wire which is at a very high temperature in the electric bulbs.
